The Upstate New York Consortium for Latin American Studies

The Upstate New York Consortium is established to expand linkages among Cornell University, Syracuse University and the State University of New York at Binghamton to enrich connections among academic disciplines; connections between academic disciplines and the professions; and connections between academic and non-academic publics.

All members will collaborate on (1) language instruction, to provide students with the skills that allow them to connect effectively to Latin America and the Caribbean; (2) interdisciplinary area studies, to connect the approaches of different disciplines and professions in ways that effectively address pressing public concerns; (3) outreach, to foster informed connections between the region and communities in the United States, including students in K-12 and in post-secondary institutions.  In addition, the members will foster more effective collaboration among our libraries and between our Consortium and other colleges and university in Upstate New York.
